I'm looking for records of a helicopter crash on the USS Nassau in
late 1982, possibly October. The only other details I have at this
point are that some or all of the flight crew were killed, another
helicopter on the deck was destroyed, and the ship was in the vicinity
of Beirut.  At the time, K company of the third battalion of the 8th
Marines was on board.  I'm offering $50 to anyone who can provide me a
verifiable document, press release, or USMC/Navy website detail of the
event.

Dear Number Nine, 

I conducted an extensive Research and found no evidences that such
event occured on the USS Nassau in 1982.

A good resource for searches of this time would normally be the New
York Times, which has an excellent online search capability.  A search
for either "U.S.S. Nassau" or "Nassau crash" turns up nothing in the
early 1980s:

I was unable to locate anything solid. However, this person may be
able to assist you :

"I was stationed on the uss nassau in 1982 we did a med cruise and
passed over the equator etc.. flight deck crew 1981 to 83"
