I'm looking for records of a helicopter crash on the USS Nassau in late 1982, possibly October. The only other details I have at this point are that some or all of the flight crew were killed, another helicopter on the deck was destroyed, and the ship was in the vicinity of Beirut. At the time, K company of the third battalion of the 8th Marines was on board. I'm offering $50 to anyone who can provide me a verifiable document, press release, or USMC/Navy website detail of the event. |

Number9 -- A good resource for searches of this time would normally be the New York Times, which has an excellent online search capability. A search for either "U.S.S. Nassau" or "Nassau crash" turns up nothing in the early 1980s: http://www.nytimes.com/ref/membercenter/nytarchive.html Best regards, Omnivorous-GA |
