I'm creating a website for a television commercial director. I am trying to find a (psuedo) standard compression rate to keep these thirty second clips clear but small files.... i am planning on keeping the clips 300 x 300 pixels. is there a standard, and what codec? i am running through quicktime, so i can export to nearly any format. a good example would be www.manarchy.com, there film clips are clear, and load quickly on a large bandwith connection. is there an average or a good resource for this information. thanks for your help, i |

Manarchy.com uses Macromedia Flash movies. Go to http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/ for details about Flash. You will not be able to export QuickTime movies directly to Flash. Flash movies are more like slide-shows, with relative motion of various components. You could put up QuickTime MPEG-4 movies directly if the clips sizes are short. Experiment with various quality settings to see if it works. If not, you can try out other codecs such as Windows Media 9 Series www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.aspx Real Video 10 http://docs.real.com/docs/rn/rv10/RV10_Tech_Overview.pdf Otherwise, you could extract strategic frames from your movie using QuickTime (Export movie to bitmap images etc) and use these frames to create a Flash movie. You must remember that Flash movies are basically presentation and you can't expect the full motion quality you find in QuickTime. This comment is intended to provide you with several alternatives to pursue. If you consider them, please clarify and I can provide further details and assistance. |
