Rick,

After finding no cost data for D&B services online, I called their
sales department at:

1.800.526.0651

The salesperson confirmed that there is no online pricing information.
The cheapest you can access them online from home or work is $805 for
a single state (the one with the smallest number of businesses
listed). Even though D&B sells this information to public libraries
all over the country, the agreement the libraries must sign prevents
them from allowing people to access the information from off-site.

The direct link to the Million Dollar Database product on the D&B site
is:

http://www.dnb.com/dbproducts/description/0,2867,2-223-1012-0-0-142-177-1,00.html

If you want to save a lot of money, call around and find the closest
library with a lisence, it's really the only legal way to get access
for free (or cheap).

I hope you find this information useful.

Rick,

You might also be interested in the Hoovers service - they give a
quick summary of company particulars along with the option to buy more
info for just that company, at various levels of detail (and cost).

Came across the Hoovers link in a comment by Missy-ga for another
question. The information actually comes out of the D&B database, and
the prices vary from $5 to $117 depending on the level of detail you
request. The basic credit report is $54.50. The details of what you
get with each report are here:

Hope this helps you out.

morris-ga is giving good advice about finding a nearby library with a
license. If you do so you have to keep a couple of things in mind: 1)
you have to be entitled to use a specific library's resources (e.g.,
only faculty, staff, and students can dial up the campus network to
use the library databases), 2) even if you get access, the specific
license may be restricted to academic use only - use for a business
may be prohibited. Mind you, the library and librarians are unlikely
to play information cop on you, but the contract for the license may
legally prohibit you from using the database.

morris-ga is STILL giving you good information, I'm just refining it a
tad!
