About to buy a genuine Gucci watch in the US and ship home to Australia.

I'd like to know the warranty terms and conditions & specifically if a
true international warranty applies to my US purchase & Australian
use.

Hi danielp,

According to most international warranties, your watch should be
covered in Australia. However, to be on the safe side, I have sent out
some inquiries and will let you know when I receive a response.

rainbow~

According to "rumour" the warranty only applies if the watch is bought
from an "authorised dealer". Whilst any such restriction is illegal in
Australia - I really don't want to be fighting Gucci in the courts.
I'm just trying to put rumours where they belong.

thanks Tuneman - very precise answer.
The site I'm thinking of is www.glooks.com - I think their online
statements are "suitably vague".....
"All watches we offer on our site retain their serial numbers. We do
not remove the serial numbers that the manufactures inscribed on the
watches.
"
and.....
"All watches, perfumes, and home decor on our site are 100% brand new
with original box, papers, and warranty cards."

Still....it's a BIG saving....and I'm tempted.

Daniel,

I am sorry to confirm that watches bought from un-authorised dealers
(these being web site only sales companies) do not have an
international warranty and do not even get a serial number. In most
instances, the distributor (website) will offer its own version of a
warranty, but this requires the postal return of the itme, should it
be faulty. I bought a $3k Omega Seamaster and made the mistake of
buying it online, to find out that Omega wouldn't support the watch.

The idea being, the manufacturer can control the prices of the wtaches
at authorised dealerships, whereas websites (like you are suggesting)
can provide better value for money, when buying cross currency anc
cross continent. Essentially speaking, Gucci will provide a warranty
only for wtaches bought at a store which has a stock of serial
numbers.

If you would like to post the link to the site you where thinking of
buying from, I could find out whether they are an authorised dealer -
I must say it is unlikely.

Nevertheless, if you feel you are making enough of a saving to warrant
the lack of warranty - you should go for it!

Hi Daniel

Yes it is rather vague.....Although it confirms they do not remove the
serial numbers from the watches, its doesnt actually confirm whether
yuo egt he warranty card, other thanthe section: "you must return your
warranty card unfilled" in he returns section.

Now this is very ambiguous becuase they don't clearly state either
position, therefore it is my thought, that is they were an official
retailer, they would certainly advertise that fact, to become more
competitive over the rest....

But, they do offer great value prices, and I'm sure you could persuade
an official gucci shop to return your item (if you ever did get a
warranty card) for a small fee.....

Happy blinging...
