The Holy See has established diplomatic relations with 175 of the
world's nations. I need to know the year of establishment for each
nation. For example, Canada established relations in 1969; the USA in
1984. You can find the names of the 175 countries by searching the
vatican web site.

Hi al52538,

I have been researching your question for over several hours now and
would like to inform you of my progress.

I have only been able to locate half of the countries and their year
of establishment of diplomatic relations with The Holy See. There
doesn't appear to be much information on the countries established
before Pope John Paul II's papacy.

I'll keep searching but I don't hold out much hope that I'll be able
to find many more.

rainbow~

I sent the following e-mail in an earlier attempt to find the answer my question:
Vatican Secretariat of State:

Dear Secretary:

10-7-03 I am trying to find the dates in which the Holy See
established Bilateral and Multilateral diplomatic relations with the
approximately 175 countries and other affiliates. Is this information
available somewhere on your web-site? If not, can you recommend a book
that contains this information? Thanks in advance for your help. Al

If all the dates that you have found are after 1929, then it is
possible that the Lateran Treaty of 1929, which gave vatican city to
the papacy, has something to do with the lack of information.

Other than the above, this is all the information that I have.

Good Luck and thanks, Al

I will accept your partial answer providing that you disclose the
source or sources by which you obtained it. Hopefully, the partial
list will be enough to justify the chart that I need to use it in. I
hesitate to publish something in a book (the need for these
dates)without being able to prove its validity.
Thank You
