Hi 6517,

Well, as you already know I'm sure, finding a chart of this particular
arrangment isn't easy, though there are quite a number of sources for
big band/jazz/latin-swing charts online. However, I did want to let
you know that I've sent off a few inquiries on your behalf and will
let you know if I receive any useful replies. In the meantime,
perhaps another Researcher will be able to find more information.

Good luck,
Byrd-ga

Hello 6517,

I have located two sources who say they have (or can get) and are
willing to sell you the chart for this piece. Yes, both are the Nat
Pierce arrangement of Horace Silver?s ?Opus de Funk? (as performed by
the Woody Herman Orchestra).

************************************************************************

The first says the chart is for 5-4-4-4. He will sell it to you for
$50.00. However, it will take him a little time to retrieve it from
its current location, which is off his premises. He requires payment
in advance before making the effort. Here?s what he said (posted with
permission):

...Thanks for looking us up. I appreciate it. We have that chart in
one of our other locations. It will take me about a week to two weeks
to bring it in and scan it to be converted to PDF so that I can e-mail
it to you. Because this is not one of our regular charts I must charge
more for it. The cost of this chart would be $50.00. Just go to
paypal and click on a $30.00 and $20.00. They will notify me and I
will start the ball rolling. This particular chart is arranged by N.
Pierce of a Woody Herman Piece. Written for 5/4/4/4.

Thanks Again

Joe Sampson?

Since payment instructions were a little confusing, I then requested
clearer directions, and he replied stating you would need to go to his
website, here:
http://honkinhorncharts.com/costandpayment.html and click on the
?PayPal? link there. Apparently his web shopping cart is only set up
to accept payments of $10, $20 or $30, which is the reason why you
would need to pay in two installments for this more expensive request.
PayPal generally allows room to send a comment to the seller, so you
could make note there of what you are purchasing. If you have any
other questions about the arrangment or the transaction, and would
like to contact Mr. Sampson further, you may use either the email
given above or charts@honkinhorncharts.com .

************************************************************************

The second source says he doesn?t have the piece himself, but has a
contact who does, and he could probably ?get it to you for $20.? I
replied asking for the contact's information and permission to post
it, and the original person replied with permission to post his
instead, saying ?I can provide your customer with the information he
needs to acquire Nat Pierce's "Opus De Funk."

So then (with permission), his name is Douglas Smink, and he can be
contacted at DISmink@aol.com .

************************************************************************
Should you get in touch with either or both of these people, it might
be a good idea to mention from where you obtained their emails, even
though they are both likely expecting to hear from you. Best of luck
in completing your transaction.

Of course, should anything be unclear, please use the ?Request
Clarification? feature to ask before rating and closing the question,
so I can be sure you?re satisfied with the information provided. And
if I receive any additional favorable replies to other inquiries I
sent out, I will post them here in a clarification.

Best wishes,
Byrd

My apologies, I neglected to include the search terms I used that led
me to these two contacts. The ones with the most useful returns were:

[charts "big band" OR "latin swing" OR jazz]
["printed music" "big band" OR "latin swing" OR jazz]

The arrangement was by Nat Pierce:

"including Pierce's definitive arrangement of Horace Silver's "Opus de Funk,"

It must be available, because it was on the program, 8 p.m. Wednesday,
