I'm looking for information about a movie called "Schizophrenia" that was possibly released in 2000. IMDB.com has an entry for the movie here: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0275658/ I'd like more information, including: - Background on the movie and it's plot - Information on where to buy a copy, on VHS or DVD - Background or bio on the director, "John Richie" I'm most interested in seeing the movie, so make your priority when answering this question where I can buy it (I am in the US.) If you can't answer all three bullets, that's fine, but you must at least give me some good data on 2 bullets for your answer to be satisfactory. I am not interested in information or biographies about the cast. | |

Hello a_butler, I have a feeling this probably the John Ritchie you're after: http://www.forcefour.com/people/john.html and this is the producer of the film, Christine Fritzsche http://www.forcefour.com/people/christine.html You might try contacting Force Four Entertainment to see if they have a copy about. This film looks to be in short supply. On-line version of "Schizophrenia"

On-line version(?) http://www.schizophrenia.ca/reachingout/index.html (I did not watch the video to verify it matching the plot described in imbd) http://www.schizophrenia.ca/reachingout/backgrounder.pdf The Vancouver Foundation promised initial seed funding of $23,000 if the B.C.Society could raise matching funds.Through grass roots volunteer fund-raising,they raised $60,000 more to develop the ?Reaching Out ? began. Vancouver-based Force Four Productions helped the team create an interesting and effective 20 minute video as a ?hook ? for teaching about schizophrenia and other serious mental illness. |

I reread the backgrounder and found this description of the video (which roughly matches your request). http://www.schizophrenia.ca/reachingout/backgrounder.pdf "Includes a 20 minute video that tells the story of a young woman who is concerned about a friend who is behaving erratically and is showing early signs of a mental illness. ? Portrays high school students who encounter mental illness amongst their peers and provides a positive model of appropriate help-seeking behaviour. ? Also features interview clips from several individuals living successfully with schizophrenia and highlights their frustrations, fears and isolation in an empathetic way." |
