Hello. I consider myself an exceptional "googler" but I keep coming
up empty handed with this one. I am looking for authoritative, and
reasonably academic websites that can, without bias, frame a political
issue and offer insight into the various sides of the debate. For
example, abortion. I would love to read a brief synopsis of the
abortion debate and then contrasting views. I want to read what the
Pro-Lifers are saying and what the Pro-Choice people are saying on the
same website. I want neither side to be presented as faulty. I
ultimately need to make up my own mind and want to hear what the
substance of the debate is. Other example could be death penalty,
immigration laws, religion, animal rights etc. I am definitely not
interested in the usual news sites and the newsgroups where people
spend most of their time screaming. I am looking for perhaps 10 sites
and maybe a personal insight into why this is so hard to find. Thank
you for your time and I am sorry I could not pay more.

The International Debate Education Association's "Debatabase" is an
excellent resource:

Have you considered Google news? It's nice to see the same story
viewed from a hundred different perspectives. Most of those views are
biased one way or another, but at least you see the entire spectrum.

Sincere thanks for the IDEA debatabase. This is precisely the type of
site I was thinking about.

Google News is already set as my home page. I appreciate the suggestion though!

One of my favorites is: www.spinsanity.org

Here's what some other sites had to say about it on Google WebQuotes:

Spinsanity: Countering Rhetoric with Reason This is the best and
least-biased of the media watchdog websites, and the authors often
expose the use of fallacies by politicians and pundits. It is a great
resource for fallacy hunters, with links to the articles analyzed. As
examples, below are links to three articles from Spinsanity's archives
exposing instances of three common fallacies in political rhetoric.

Spinsanity - Column which analyzes political and media rhetoric and
criticizes "spin" and punditry. Includes archive and e-mail list
information.

Spinsanity is becoming one of my favorite sites ? one that often
mirrors my own point of view is that most folks on both sides of the
political aisle are at least a little full of manure. How many sites
besides mine have you seen that will direct your attention to articles
by Robert Scheer and William Buckley?
