I'm looking for a track on an album (LP, cassette or CD) with soul in it's title.
I'm not exactly sure what the track is called,... "Two hour
nightrider" is at least very close (hour & nightrider are definate).
It's a slow instrumental (guitar), on a Soul album from the early
70's... Late 60's, at worst. The only other artist I remember from the
album is, "Roberta
Flack" singing 'First time ever i saw your face.' Can you name the track?

Dear alb10n,

The track you are looking for is indeed named "Two Hour Nightrider".

It appeared together with "The First Time I Saw Your Face" on the 1972
LP "Right On! Soul Hits" (label: Stereo Gold Award records; catalog
number: Stereo Gold Award MER-360). This LP was a compilation
containing cover versions of various soul records, among them Roberta
Flack's song, though I have not been able to find out whether the
"First Time..." version featured on "Right On! Soul Hits" is Flack's
original recording or a cover version. But it seems possible that the
latter is the case, judging from the few information I discovered.

"Two Hour Nightrider" is some kind of a remarkable exception on that
LP: It's not a cover version, but rather a composition of the record's
producer and Stereo Gold Award label owner, Leo Muller, played by his
contract musicians.

The LP has never been released as a CD. But you can see its original
cover by following this link:

Just in case you want to purchase a copy of this rare LP: I found it
to be available from Superfly Records. It's included in their list of
Soul/Funk-LPs, for 12.00 Euro (please understand that I couldn't get a
confirmation of availability):
