The painting has a certain resemblance to James MacNeil Whisler's
"Arrangement in Grey and Black #1" (often called "Whistler's Mother").

Here's Cannon's painting:

And Whistler's:

Please excuse my typographical errors. For 'MacNeil', I should have
typed 'McNeill'. For 'Whisler', read 'Whistler'.

I agree 100% with my friend and colleague Pinkfreud. The painting is
an obvious take-off on "Whistler's Mother."
