Dear williamwhisper-ga;
Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question. What becomes of a prisoner largely depends on which agency
arrests him.
?Mill Valley has two jurisdictions: The city limits are serviced by
the Police Department and the Sheriff?s Department services the
unincorporated areas. If your street signs are brown with white
lettering, you are within the city limits. If your street signs are
blue with white lettering, you are in the unincorporated area.?
MILL VALLEY POLICE DEPARTMENT
http://www.millvalleypd.org/faqs.html
The City of Mill Valley has it?s own police department located at:
One Hamilton Drive
Mill Valley, CA 94941
Phone: 415-389-4100
The Public Safety Building has only two jail cells in which to hold
prisoners temporarily. The department has a policy that all prisoners
must be transported to the Martin County Detention Facility within two
hours. If the Mill Valley Police arrested him, he would probably have
been brought here where investigators would have talked to him and the
initial processing would have taken place. Then he would have been
taken to the Marin County Sheriff?s Department Detention Facility (see
below).
If the Marin County Sheriff?s Department arrested him, he would have
been taken directly to the Sheriff?s Department for possible question
and processing. That department is located in the Civic Center in San
Rafael:
3501 Civic Center Drive, #145
San Rafael, Ca. 94903
(415) 479-2311
The Marin County jail itself (where Mill Valley also takes its
prisoners eventually) is located at. The prisoner would have been
brought here for further processing and confinement:
13 Peter Behr Drive
San Rafael, Ca. 94903
(415) 499-6655
You may search the jail?s booking database for prisoners brought in
within the past 48 hours, or alternatively search for prisoners
arrested some time prior to that who are currently in custody. You can
also call (415) 499-7316 and the jail staff will confirm if the
individual is in the facility.
Prisoners are arraigned in the Marin Superior Court, which is also
conveniently located at the Marin County Civic Center:
Marin County Superior Court
Hall of Justice
Marin County Civic Center
3501 Civic Center Drive
San Rafael, California 94903
(415) 473-6225
You can check the court calendar for a defendant?s name by using this
handy search engine:

Kep in mind that most prisoners are afforded an opporunity to post
bond, so if you don't find the person you are looking for, it may be
that he has been released on bond or that the case might already have
been adjudicated and the matter is now closed.
Below you will find that I have carefully defined my search strategy
for you in the event that you need to search for more information. By
following the same type of searches that I did you may be able to
enhance the research I have provided even further. I hope you find
that that my research exceeds your expectations. If you have any
questions about my research please post a clarification request prior
to rating the answer. Otherwise, I welcome your rating and your final
comments and I look forward to working with you again in the near
future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.
