To turn your video stills into photographs you need to have the proper
software and a way to get the footage into your computer. First of
all, find out if your camcorder has a way of connecting to your
computer. Most camcorders have a composite out, audio and video, which
can be connected to your computer. Newer camcorders have a fire wire
or DV out and if you have a newer computer you can connect this way as
well. Also, VCR's have a video out that is either SVHS or composite.
Just see what kind of inputs your computer has and try to match up
from there. Second, you need the proper software. I use Adobe Premiere
and Photoshop for this. You can download trial versions of these great
products at Adobe.com. Once you have them installed capture your video
footage in Premiere. The software comes with a manual built in. All
you have to do is go to file then capture then capture movie. Once the
footage is digitized then drop in into the timeline. Place the marker
over the video portion that you want then go to file, export, then
export frame. When the dialog box appears make sure that you go into
your settings and select tiff or jpeg. Then launch Photoshop and open
your video frame that you just made. It will open right up and at this
point you can fix it up. I suggest deinterlacing (filters then video
then deinterlace) and also adjusting the color a bit. This can be done
with the auto levels function under adjustments. This is a very easy
process and will take a little time at first but will be worth it in
the end!!! Good luck. For more advice feel free to email me:
