I'm trying to set up a pda-version of my site but I can't get the graphics right. I mainly use Adobe Photoshop for al my web images. But I can't seem te get the graphics in such a way that they look on the web. My question: -Do have a to use a different resolution(dpi), mode(CMYK, RGB etc) for pda graphics? -Is Photoshop the best program for pda graphics? -Are there any other issues concerning pda grahpic design? I strongly prefer an answer from the Photoshop-perspective so I can quickly relate to it. Regards, Gordon |

The standard Palm screen dimension, as an example, is 160 pixels by 160 pixels. Designers of Web pages for handheld devices actually use 154 pixels (width) by 140 pixels (height) for the working dimension of the pages they create for the standard Palm. So, no matter what resolution you choose (72 ppi or 300 ppi) your image should be no larger than 154 x 140 pixels in dimension. I use 72 ppi to work comfortably in Photoshop to create images. In addition, if you are creating graphics for handhelds with color screens, then you can use the RGB JPEG and GIF color spaces that match the device specs. For black and white screens I use bitmap image mode, simulating greys through a texture of black. |
