what is the correct balanced equation for the reaction between iodide
ion, a peroxide, and a hydrogen ion? Why does the color become orange
or brown?

H2O2 + 2 KI + 2 H(+) --> I2 + 2 H2O

Colour due to liberated iodine (I2).
