Dear donphiltrodt-ga,

That is an excellent question, especially for people trying to perfect
their low carb diets. After reading your question, I was somewhat
curious to see what the answer was myself, so I did a quick Google
search, looking up ?carbohydrate tomato? and found
http://www.carbohydrate-counter.org which gives extensive nutrition
information. The specific page that answers your particular question
is http://www.carbohydrate-counter.org/veg/search.php?cat=Tomatoes&fg=1100
.

As you seem to want to know the carbohydrate content in 1 lb. of fresh
tomatoes, you will have to convert grams to pounds. The conversion
factor is 453.6 grams = 1 lb.

As pounds are a really large unit for measuring carbohydrates, I would
multiply the grams of carbs in a 100 gram serving by 4.536 to see how
many grams of carbs are in a pound of tomatoes.

Example:

Tomatoes, red, ripe, raw, year round average: 3.92g carbs per 100g of tomato

3.92g X 4.536 = 17.8 grams of carbs in a 1 pound serving

I hope that this information will be of benefit to you. If you are
starting on a new diet, I wish you much success.
