I am a pilot looking for work. As I am only licenced to fly AMERICAN
registered aircraft I need to find the following details related to
AMERICAN REGISTERED (those on USA FAA register only) Private/Business
JETS that are PRIMARILY BASED AND OPERATED IN THE UK AND EUROPE.
So that I may approach prospective employers I need to know the
following in respect of all identified aircraft: Make, registration,
where based in UK or Europe, and contact name and details (tel or
address) of either pilot, owner or operator.
For price I expect at least 100 identified aircraft and appropriate
details. Please email me if needs clarification. |

Skydancer,
I've been pouring through the FAA database. From a first look, there
seem to be quite a number of prop planes -- but very few jets -- that
are registered wth the FAA, but have a principally European address.
I want to make sure I'm interpreting the lingo the right way, though.
The FAA data classifies its aircraft engines as follows:
1--reciprocating
2--turbo-prop
3--turbo-shaft
4--turbo jet
5--turbine air generator
6--ramjet
While there are many European-based aircraft with a #1 code, I've only
found a single aircraft in the entire FAA database that is based in
Europe and has a #4 code! There were no #5's or #6's that I saw.
Please confirm for me that the type of aircraft of interest to you is
primarily the #4 turbojets, and also let me know any other codes that
are on the mark as far as your interests go.
Thanks.

Thanks for getting back. Yes, it is Turbo Jet Aircraft types (#4) that
I am interested in. The source you have found sounds very interesting,
and while I appreciate that there are likely to be more #1's based in
UK and Europe, I am surprised that you have only found one #4 because
I know of at least 35 in the UK alone personally, and know there are
many more than that in the rest of Europe.
If you are able to get me EXACTLY the information I want I will be
happy to pay more, and as you seem to have found a promising source
may I make a suggestion? Why not send me the details I am looking for
on the only #4 you have found and I will tell you if it contains the
information I really need. If it does I will be happy to increase my
price for more of the same. Many thanks.

Hello skydancer,
Thanks for getting back to me. Hopefully, by working together a bit,
we can figure out why my database is showing so few US-registered jets
in the UK and elsewhere in Europe.
If you could give me some information on one or two of the jets you
know about in the UK -- N-number or serial number or operating company
name, for instance -- I can then search the database to see if they
exist in my records.
In the mean time, like I've said, I've only found very few listed jets
in Europe. One of the records looks like this:
FAA Resitration Number: N525AL
Serial Number 525-0011
Type Registration Corporation
Manufacturer Name CESSNA
Certificate Issue Date 11/19/2003
Model 525
Status Valid
Type Aircraft Fixed Wing Multi-Engine
Type Engine Turbo-Jet
Pending Number Change None
Dealer No
Date Change Authorized None
Mode S Code 51515614
MFR Year 1993
Fractional Owner NO
Registered Owner:
Name JETCO HOLDINGS INC TRUSTEE
Street GRANARY HOUSE THE GRANGE
ST PETER PORT
City GUERNSEY
State None
Zip Code GY1 2-QQ
County None
Country UNITED KINGDOM
Airworthiness:
Engine Manufacturer WILLIAMS
Classification Standard
Engine Model FJ 44 SERIES
Category Normal
A/W Date 05/07/1993
Other Owner Names: None
Temporary Certificate:
Certificate Number T035909
Issue Date 11/19/2003
Expiration Date 12/19/2003
Fuel Modifications: None
===============
I can't tell you what all the entries mean, but perhaps to a skydancer
such as yourself, you'll already be familiar with all the terms.
Let me know how you think we should proceed.

Thanks for getting back. The info you got so far is from the FAA
register which is where I started. Problem is this. To own an US
registered airplane you HAVE to be either a US citizen or US company.
To get round this people outside the US get their airplanes registered
in the name of a US TRUST, and there are companies that specialise in
setting this up for people outside the US.
Where you have found registered owners outside the USA are owners who
are either US citizens living outside the US (mainly #1 type, small
airplanes) or otherwise US TRUST COMPANIES with addresses outside USA.
Example: N-991RV is a jet I used to fly owned by a man living in
Ireland. Because he is not American he used a company to set up a
Trust company. Look it up and you will see it is EI Aviation Trustees
(or similar) which gives no indication of who either the operator,
owner or pilot of the airplane is. The address given is that of the
company who set up the trustee arrangement.
I think you are gonna have to look for this stuff another way....let
me know if you have any other ideas as I will be glad to help you earn
the money I am prepared to pay for the CORRECT info. Best regards,
Skydancer

Thanks. That helps clarify what's going on with the data, and the
(apparent) paucity of European-registered jets.
I'll keep looking, and let you know when/if I turn up anything that looks promising.
