Hello again annie827-ga:

I'm sorry; I think I misunderstood the question to mean that you
wanted art not only from the '20s -'40s, but also *contemporary art*
depicting trains of the 1920s-1940s!

Actually, I didn't have a lot of luck finding paintings or posters
from that era. I did give you some appropriate links to vintage items
in my original answer, but I've endeavored to find more resources that
fit your parameters for authentic antique items.

You should contact the following dealers -- even if they don't have
what you want in stock right now -- because their inventories are
ever-changing. Some of them may be very glad to keep an eye open for
just what you want:

Railroad Memories:
http://www.railroadmemories.com/
has auctions and consignments that include a broad array of
railroad-related items. You can subscribe to their catalogues, and
they encourage prospective customers to e-mail them.

Antique & Contemporary Posters has a category for transportation-related posters:
http://www.acposter.com/posters/AirShipTrain/airshiptrain.html
There's nothing of interest for you listed right now, but you should
contact this dealer.

The Donohue Collections of Antique Transportation Art Gallery:
http://www.flughafengallery.com/flugzeug.htm
This is their page on trains:
http://www.flughafengallery.com/gl_trains.htm

Cabot Mill Antiques carries art and encourages inquiries regarding their inventory:
http://www.cabotiques.com/

Of course, eBay is a great resource. (Just type "train" along with
"painting" or "poster" or "photo" into the categories Art or
Antiques):

Some current auctions of interest:

Two antique Lionel train ads:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2590284682&category=12

An original 1930 poster of the Storm King/New York Central Lines, at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3655970947&category=20143

Two vintage 1920 Chicago train posters:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3656220196&category=20144

A b&w photo poster of Grand Central Station (it appears to be the '30s
or '40s), at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3655951872&category=2211

Another nice thing about eBay is, many sellers, including sellers of
some of the above items, provide links to their specialty stores. Just
keep scrolling down the above pages and you'll see contact information
for the sellers.

Again, I'm sorry I included links to some contemporary items in my
original answer. But many of the links I first gave you should be of
interest.

I hope the dealers, and other resources, I've listed just now will
assist you in finding the authentic items you're seeking.

Let me know if I can be of further help.

Regards,
nancylynn-ga
