Whose fault were they? I would suspect at least 80% of these apparent
2+ million lost jobs are the result of structural changes in our
industries, and that any sitting president would be hard-pressed to do
much about them, short of massive protectionism and regulation, or
basically creating two million government "make work" jobs.
The reason I'm asking this is I have a friend who feels that George
Bush is largely to blame for the loss of his job, and continues to be
jobless, when in fact it's the management of his former company that
cut his job, and the managements of many companies that are cutting
jobs rather than creating new ones. It's not that I'm a Bush
defender, but he's giving Clinton credit
and Bush blame for his job situation, and that's intelletcually lazy, almost
dishonest. |
