Until this weekend my site www.monkhousehill.co.uk had consistently
(last 2 years at least) been on the first page of google uk when
searching for 'lake district cottages'. Has now suddenly dropped to
page 15 or so. No changes to my site except a few page descriptions
tidied up. Page rank 4 doesn't seem to have changed. Any clues why
(has Google modified algorithm?), and/or what could help remedy it?

Google has indeed tweaked it's algorythm,and you're one of many who've
seen their page ranking drop.

I'd call it more than a tweak.
