Dear wjaz,

Thanks for your question. First, let me request that if any of the
following is unclear or if you require any further research ? please
don?t hesitate to ask me for a clarification.

You requested to know the adoption rate of TIVO back to launch by
quarterand the time of Tivo's launch.

TIVO was incorporated in 1997; the Hambrecht report includes a
complete timeline (see below).

The service was launched in the third quarter of 1999, but financial
statements show subscription revenues were first recorded in the
second quarter (to the tune of $8,000?!). The first annual report
says the company began to market the service on March 31 1999.

Tivo?s subscriber base has been doubling every year since 2000.

Today, Tivo is the market share leader, with an estimated 30% of the
DVR (Digital Video Recorder) market (source: H&Q).

Following are subscriber stats from launch through Q3 2003 (Q3 2004 #s
not yet released; will be glad to update here when they are made
available)

Is the doubling of q2 2000 because of the change in year end?
I will give you a $50 tip if you get the same information for ipod by
quarter. Or should I just repost a question? Let me know.

wjaz - thanks for your quick response.

Not sure I understand your question re:Q2 2000 - every number reflects
cumulative subscriptions. Q1 2000 ended 3/31 - with 38,000
subscriptions. By 6/30 the company had 49,000 subscriptions and then
by 7/31 53,000. So, when you compare the 53,000 to the 38,000 from
Q1, this reflects four months of growth. Is this what you were
referring to?

Would love to get on your iPod question right away; I can't guarantee
that I will be able to locate the data, of course, but I will do my
best!!

Best if you post a new question, with subject something like "iPod
adoption - for ragingacademic" - I'll pick it up and get going.

thanks,
ragingacademic
