Gotta beg to differ. Don't believe the marketing departments. I was
there :) We beat Corvettes handily with both GTO's (preferably of the
three deuce variety) and in my opinion, the fastest unmodified
production monster, the Plymouth Road Runner!

Catalinas were not even in the game.

But perhaps someone can find more concrete data for you.

"Any 427 Sting Ray was an incredible performer. With the short 4.11:1
gearset, Sports Car Graphic's example did 0-60 mph in a nearly
unbelievable 4.8 seconds and ran up to 140 mph. The modest 3.36:1 axle
made things only a bit less sensational; Car and Driver reported 0-60
in 5.4 seconds and a standing quarter-mile of 12.8 seconds at 112
mph."

"1963 Pontiac Catalina...

Performance: SD 421/410: 0-60 in 5.2 seconds, 1/4 mile in 13.7 seconds
@ 107 mph. Super Stock lightweight SD 421/410: 1/4 mile in low 12s at
more than 116 mph."

Fastest 0 to 60 was the 67 vette. BUT the Shelby Cobra had them all beat!
