I need to find a low cost (<$50) device that converts COMPONENT-Video to S-Video. Component not composite. Component has 3 cables RED BLUE and GREEN; this is what I want to convert to S-video. | |

After an extensive search I found only one discontinued item, plus the non-useful infocus-specific item you mentioned, along with further confirmation that the infocus-specific adapter definitely isn't usable with anything else for reasons that go beyond simple connector type. The one discontinued item's page was careful to show pictures so that buyers would understand that substantial quality loss was involved as well. The only viable solutions don't seem to meet your low-cost criteria. Let me know if you have a specific maximum price in mind, though. |

According to http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_15020669_33506_tab=B,00.html?compName=PNA_ProductDetailComponent , it has an s-video output. |

I found exactly as Majortom did, one discontinued product ( http://www.svideo.com/comp2svideo.html ) and the infocus product. Furthermore I also investigated much more expensive products for the professional market and found converters of that type hard to come by. There is one from Kramer electronics ( http://www.kramerelectronics.com/indexes/desc.asp?p=FC-4041C ) and a few others, but all will be out of your intended price range. Also, if you are able to find a converter, and install it between your DVD player and TV and Projector, spliting the component out to create the two outputs, you will find the picture is degraded. This is because the signal will be double terminated by the converter and the projector. Regards, Sycophant-ga |
