I have been tasked to provide a detailed departmental description that
articulates the roles and responsibilities of a consolidated
organization that performs formal competitive and marketing
intelligence functions, e.g., industry trends analysis, information
gathering and analysis, providing strategic recommendations, etc. 
However, this function would not be responsible for customer
interactions as it relates to the current products and services of the
company.
