Great.

2 issues.

Firstly, the reason why we needed a feature to display X number of
URLs per client was because

1. It allows us to submit more clients, by submitting fewer pages for each client.

2. There are guidelines preventing too many submissions per day for any given URL.

What happens with the software as it is now, is that once you have
submitted a URL for a client, the page reloads with 5 urls (adding
another URL from the same client for the client in place of the one
that has been submitted). This defeats the object of only displaying 5
URLs per client. The only time that client would dissapear from the
list is when ALL the pages for that client have been submitted).

What needs to happen is for the list to display 5 (or whatever figure
is set in the 'setup' page) urls per client. Once a submitter has
submitted one, the list should reload displaying 4 urls. Then 3, 2 etc
until the 5 (or whatever) urls have been submitted for that client.
You then move onto the next client.

This is now known as the 'first 5' for each client. The rest of the
urls for that client must have a lesser priority than the subsequent
urls for all clients.

So, simply speaking, when we add a client (normally 50 URLs), the
layered page plus 4 more need to be added as priority level 2
(priority level 1 - highest priority - are the ones specifically added
in the 'priorty' box).

This allows us to make sure than the 'first 5' for all clients takes
priorty over the 'second 5', 3rd 5 etc of all the other clients.

Thats it! Does that make sense?

Oh one more thing, can the dates and times be UK?

Request for Question Clarification by joseleon-ga on 31 Jan 2004 04:23 PST
Hello, bmcompany:
I have modified the script to include a new setting, GMT_OFFSET, by
default is 6, which means that the server is 6 hours less than UK
time. This value is used to calculate the time when showing any date
and when you get the activity report. Having this as a setting is
easier for you if you change from server.

I keep on working on the other feature, probably I will request for a
clarification before tweak the code.

Regards.

Hello, bmcompany:
I have some problems understanding what you need exactly, could you
explain it in other way? I have problems with this paragraph:

"What needs to happen is for the list to display 5 (or whatever figure
is set in the 'setup' page) urls per client. Once a submitter has
submitted one, the list should reload displaying 4 urls. Then 3, 2 etc
until the 5 (or whatever) urls have been submitted for that client.
You then move onto the next client."

In the show urls feature you have several filter options:
-Show all
-Waiting any submission
-Waiting Google submission
-Waiting AllTheWeb submission
-Waiting Altavista submission

Right now, there is a limit in which only 5 (or the setup number) of
URLs from the same customer (that is, the same domain name) are shown,
no matter the filter is active. That is, if you click in Show All,
there would be listed only 5 URLs from the same customer, no matter
the submission state of that URLs and always the priority URLs and
Layered ones first.

If you click on Waiting any submission, there would be listed only 5
URLs from the same customer, waiting for any submission, if a URL has
been submitted to all search engines, won't be shown and also won't be
counted.

So my question is, How does this customer limit must work when filtering the URLs?

Regards.

Hi again.

We must only submit 5 urls per client per day.

That means that once a submitter has submitted 5 urls from one client,
they must move on to the next client.

So what needs to happen is that when a user submits 5 urls to google
(assuming that the Google only filter is on), that url must dissapear
from the list (not simply reload with another 5 from that url).

Any better?

Hello, bmcompany:
Ok, Now I think I got it, please, test it and tell me if it works as you need.

Now, when showing URLs, if there is an active filter (Waiting any
submission | Waiting Google submission | Waiting AllTheWeb submission
| Waiting AltaVista submission), only 5 (or max you set on setup) will
be shown counting also submitted URLs, so that way, you will see 5,
then 4 and then 3 and so on..., once all have been submitted, that
customer won't be shown.

Just tell me...

Regards.

perfect.

Any chance of having a quick filter to the admin page?

View urls added to the database on a certain date with two options:

1. view 1 url per client (so that we can just see the clients added)
2. view all urls from all of the clients (so that we can see all the
clients and all of their pages.

After this, we would like a new app (delphi this time) to so some
searching, copying, renaming and various other bits. Can you move to
another question after this? we totaly understand if you want to move
to some other questions, just let us know.

Hello, bmcompany:

I have added the filter you requested to the Show URLs option, it
works only if the logged user is admin and allows you to show urls
added between two dates and show just 1 url per client or all of them.

Please, test it and tell me if all works as it should.

Regarding the new app, don't worry, just post it here, I have enough
time to do it ;-)

Regards.

Just a quick note, the activity report doesnt work for admin for some reason.

thanks again

Clarification of Answer by joseleon-ga on 03 Feb 2004 09:14 PST
Hello, bmcompany:
Thanks for the generous tip. Regarding the activity report, what
happens exactly? I mean, you can't access when logged as admin or you
cannot get the admin activity report? It takes a while to access the
activity report because it shows at first instance all the activity
report. Do you want me to change this behaviour so when you first
enter, it will show nothing until you select a submitter?

Regards.
