Dear dallas5-ga; Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting question. I?m quite confident that the sculptor you are referring to is FERDINAND LUGERTH (Austrian 1885-1915). He is known for his gilt, bronze, metal and ivory sculptures and his primary pieces included portraitures, nudes and animals. He did indeed sign his works, ?F. Lugerth?. Signature example: http://www.drawrm.com/3878e.jpg If your piece is an original and not a replica, you may have something quite worthy. Take a look at this one for example of a pair of sculptures are being offered for $6,500: ANTIQUE METAL FROM THE DRAWING ROOM http://www.drawrm.com/3878.htm Here are other examples of some of his greater and lesser-known works: THE GLADIATOR http://jacksonsauction.com/past_files/images/Nov2099/ferdinand_lugerth.htm THE FENCER http://www.users.bigpond.com/wernerschmidlin/lugerth.html ?L?ADIEU DE L?AMOUREUX? http://www.basilstreet.com/jump.jsp?itemType=PRODUCT&itemID=1583 EBAY - F. LUGERTH BRONZE AND IVORY FIGURINE http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2886957805&category=553 Here is a catalogue currently being auctioned on EBAY that has some of Lugerth?s works in it: EBAY http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2887538866&category=553 Below you will find that I have carefully defined my search strategy for you in the event that you need to search for more information.
