Do you mean you have an e-mail with an attachment named
"snmail50.tmp"? If so, do you know the person the message is coming
from? If not, this is probably not a good thing to be trying to open.
If you must see the contents of the file I would recommend opening it
with Notepad to see what's inside.
Give me a little more detail and I can give you a better answer.

My sister-in-law sent it along with many others like it in the past.
I never could open them when it asked where I'd like to open it, I
indicated adobe, but it never worked. I wrote her and asked her how
she opened it and she said that it just opens and couldn't give me any
advice.
Thank you

Okay, did she give you any indication as to what sort of file it is?
Is it supposed to be a picture, just text, or what? Can she tell you
what program it opens in on her computer?
The problem is, that files ending in .tmp are usually temporary files
created by programs as they process data. Generally speaking, you
don't ever open temporary files directly. Just from the filename it's
impossible to tell what kind of data is in the file and figure out
exactly what program is supposed to open the file.
If you can get your sister-in-law to tell you what program is opened
when she clicks on the file, that would help a lot!

Hi,
You can also use Quickview to view the contents of the file or you can
simply change the .tmp extention to .txt or .doc so that Notepad or
Word will open it for you. If the content is readable, you may leave
it as is or choose "Save as" to save the data in another file.
Please tell me if it solved your problem.
