Hello scuba1,

I have found numerous chairs from which you can choose! You asked for
a chair with many positions, and most of the following chairs meet
that requirement. In fact, they all do, but some in a more unique way
than others! I attempted to list the chairs I felt were more suitable
first, but as preferences vary, they may be found in no particular
order!

Ergonomic Office and Computer Furniture Supplies has a whole page
about the ergonomics of furniture, explaining seat depth and backrest
angle adjustability:
?Ergonomic seating acts as a natural extension of the body, providing
the balanced support that helps to maintain proper posture, which is
currently defined by ergonomists as the ability to move into a variety
of positions, or dynamic posture. Good posture results from the
rhythmic interplay between muscular contraction and relaxation, which
occurs when we move forward and backward. A good ergonomic office
chair promotes dynamic posture. We should all aim for a healthy
balance between tensing and relaxing the different muscle groups.?

Swing Seat
Swing Seat says ? Solid lumbar support from a true back support chair
can prevent slouching, stooping, back pain and other unhealthy
problems that result from inadequate seating.? And "Movement is
absolutely necessary ...to keep your joints, tendons and muscles
limber, your circulatory systems functioning and, to ward off the back
pain, leg pain, soreness and stiffness of sitting for long periods at
a time.? Full factory warranty for 2 years on all AeroMotion models.

Global Nucas Chair, ?Not only is the NuCAS chair by Global ($1,100.
US) adjustable in nine different ways (unlike most chairs, which are
only adjustable in one or two ways) but it's an "ergonomically
correct" chair, which means that the human body is placed under as
little stress as possible when sitting. Or, as Global puts it, "it
combines aerospace activation mechanics with a closed system of
hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders to position and maintain the user's
desired seating position." Your back is making you sit up straighter
as you read this.?

Human Scale

http://www.humanscale.com/products/seating/synchronous_armrests_main.htm

?While 90 percent of all U.S. office workers now use computers, 40
percent work on their computers at least four hours a day. But Dr.
Alan Hedge, Professor of the Human Factors Laboratory at Cornell
University, warns that the risk of musculoskeletal discomfort
increases by using the computer as little as one hour a day. Even
worse, the risk of musculoskeletal injury is nine times greater when
you spend four hours a day at the computer than it is for a one
hour-per-day user. These statistics shed some light on the growing
number of work-related office injuries, and the increasing importance
of ergonomics in the workplace.?

It's really not a good idea to sit down for 'hours at a time'.

You MUST have regular breaks or you will do your back in.

Two hours is the max for any one sitting and then take a 30 minute break.

I'm sorry. I misunderstood the initial instructions. I believed, in
error, that I was to be somewhat general in my "Question Box", because
there was limited space. I would have elaborated that with the
advancement of my Parkinsons Disease, it is nearly impossible for me
to stay in one place or position for anywhere like even 1 hour, much
less many hours. With regard to my back, aside from the frequent
Lortabs, I try to sit in chairs etc that can give me as much relief as
possible. Which brings me around to my request for help in my search
for a chair that will help me while I AM at the PC. Does your comment
mean that you would rather not take my "case"? David Chandler

Hi, David

I was so very sorry to read your Comment.

I was really trying to be helpful, without having fully appreciated
your real needs.

Naturally, as you are not sitting continuously 'for hours' as your
question implied then you must ignore my comment.

I should explain that I am NOT a Researcher ... just a fellow
questioner, like you, and all of us have the opportunity to comment on
any question that is asked.

Rightly or wrongly, I believe that Comments generally add to the
quality of the responses that are obtained and, indeed, now that you
have provided further information this may well turn out to be the
case.

However, I cannot say whether any researcher will 'take your case' but
I sincerely hope so.

Warmest regards

Bryan

Bryan, It's been my experience that most people will not take the
time or the "chance" to express the concern that you did. Wish there
were more like you. If I sounded like I was snapping at you, I'm
sorry, I really wasn't. I was just getting off a Pity Potty and I
should have waited a day or so. Anyway, Thanks
