Greetings:

I'd like to contact, via email, someone in the field of infectious
disease and/or virology who specializes in mononucleosis, which I have.
I'd prefer they be connected to a University-level research institution.
Please come up with a few contacts, in case one or more are reluctant
to answer my questions about mononucleosis.
 I'll adjust the gratuity accordingly.

 Thank You.

Hi pcventures. You are not alone with your symptoms. I know of many
people including my wife, with a range of similar problems. In all
cases, after a viral serology test, which came up with two viruses,
CYTOMEGALOVIRUS [CMV] and EPSTEIN-BARR VIRUS [ EBV]. In my wifes case,
there was severe weight loss [ down from a light 55kgs to a life
threatening 36 kgs. All her G.P. could offer was to infer she was
anorexic, and I knew very well she was not. She ate well, but her food
intake was just not being properly absorbed. In our search for an
answer, we came across many others with similar symptoms. Our search
for CMV and EBV on the internet revealed the same effects, and we are
at a loss to understand why G.P.`S play it down. Like you, all other
tests like endoscopies, colonoscopies, blood tests, etc, all came back
"normal". The G.P.`S semm reluctant to carry out full serology tests
for the virus` and it seems you have to insist on it. CMV is carried
by a majority of the worlds population, and according to the websites
information, only a small percentage are badly affected. We beg to
differ in that all the people we know who are suffering make up a much
larger percentage. The symptoms are very persistent and can develop
into mononucleosis. CMV in pregnant women, who have never caught it,
can be worse on an unborn child than german measles. A side effect is
chronic fatigue that bed rest does not seem to alleviate. The virus
also seems to incubate in the upper parts of the nose and ears and
causes the other symptoms that you originally stated.
