I recently installed SBC/Yahoo DSL, but apparently it (or Zone Alarm) has some incompatibilities with Spam Inspector, which I use in conjunction with Outlook Express. Spam Inspector used to catch a high percentage of my spam; now it catches nothing. Even worse, at times it starts to eat up a huge percentage of my CPU's duty cycle. When that happens and I look in the Task Manager (I'm running Windows XP), I'll see siSpamFilterEngine.exe running at 20% to 30% and vsmon.exe running at 60% to 70%. When I delete the siSpamFilterEngine.exe process, the vsmon.exe duty cycle drops back down to zero and my computer starts running normally again. How do I get Spam Inspector to work properly? And how do I avoid the occasional bouts of extreme computer sluggishness? |
