I have Norton checking on documents I want to read online, etc.
Every once in a while, I get the "CAUTION! MALICIOUS SCRIPT DETECTED!"
-- and sometimes when the source is reliable (i.e, an online textfile
in a distance learning course from a major university). Norton says I
can optionally read the file that triggered the message. In any case,
I usually have simply ESCAPEd to make the message disappear--but right
after that, I have a problem with WORD:

WORD refuses to let me input in any file, or even to read old files
properly. I get a message saying "not enough memory to display that
font" -- and if that happens while I'm opening an old one, I can see
the font in a rough form, sometimes.

All other programs on my computer seem to run fine at that point
though. Even EXCEL (which uses the same font modules, I assume) works.
So it's maybe a setting inside of WORD that needs fixing? Or is it
simply a bug in WORD?

My only option is to reboot, which is pretty annoying. Is there a fix?

You have a macro (script) virus in your Word. Try re-installing it.
