I'm looking for a free piece of software that can convert a .qif file
to an Excel spreadsheet (of .csv, etc.). I see a number of
commercially available products, but nothing for free. Looking for
something that runs on the Windows platform (Excel macro would do
too). Thanks.

I believe The Financial File Converter will convert a .qif file to a
.csv format. Please try this, and let me know if it works well for
you:

I found that one too. It works, but it is only a demo that will
convert up 10 ten records without purchasing a license. Please help
me be a cheap bastard!!!

I'm all in favor of helping a fellow 'cheap bastard'. ;-)

Unfortunately, I know of no free, non-demo software that will do what
you need. Hope another Researcher will be able to help!

Here's something that might do the trick. The demo is free to use for 30 days:

Another thought: import the file to MS Money, then export it to Excel.
