My terrific male cat regularly (but not always) urinates over the side
of the litter box. I know that there are boxes with high sides
available, but the space in my bathroom where I must keep the box is
rather narrow. I need a box that's 17" or 18" x 11" (maybe a bit
bigger) x at least 51/2" or 6". I know that this is a rediculous
request, but I've searched the internet like crazy & can't find
anything appropriate. Can you find a box of this size?

Have you thought of using an enclosed litter box?

We once had a male cat who, even after having been neutered, sprayed
urine high in the air. We bought one of the two-piece enclosed litter
boxes. Once he decided that it was safe (which took about a week) it
solved the problem nicely. When we changed the litter, we had to swab
out the inside of the "lid" enclosure, but that only took a few extra
seconds, and it was nice not to have cat urine all over the bathroom
wall. ;-)

Here's an example of the kind of litter box I was referring to:

Another option. PoopsieCat makes a big, deep litter box:

"Our litter box size is 20 inches long 16 inches wide and 6 ½ inches deep."

I'm afraid of using an enclosed box for three reasons: the cleanup
prospect seems truly unappetizing; I've read that many cats don't
accept enclosed boxes; and my 11" or possibly 12" width limitation
precludes the ones I've seen anyway.

The PoopsieCat suggestion won't work because of the width (see the
dimensions in my original question).

Keep in mind, it doesn't need to be an actual litter box. Any "box"
should work. Tupperware, something from a hardware store, even a
cardboard box lined with plastic. Be creative.
