how can i find out the previous registered owner of a domain name?

Hi there,

To verify which companies owned which domain and when is easy but
pricey. The only historical Whois service I know of is at
DialogSelect, and they charge $3.95 per domain per registrar. So one
domain, if it had three owners, each using a different registrar,
would cost $11.85
