7 months ago I installed Office 2003 Beta. When the trail period
expired recently I removed Office 2003 and reinstalled Office 2002.
Unfortunately I did not make any backup of my Outlook files. Office
2002 could read only the file (outlook.pst) that was made before the
Office2003 trial period. The file that was generated during the trial
period (outlook1.pst) could not be imported into Outlook 2002.I have
now learned that Outlook 203 uses a file format different from that of
Outlook 2002, so I re-installed Outlook 2003, but I still get an error
message when trying to import outlook1.pst.
(The file C:\Documents and settings\xx\xx\outlook1.pst is not
compatible with this version of the personal information service.

I really hope that somebody can helpme to recover the mail from the 7
moths' period.

Thank you

Thank you for your advice.
I have tried to solve the problem with the Microsoft tools
scanpst.exe. (a programme for repairing pst files) and PST2GB.exe a
programme for truncating large pst files, which should also be able to
?run with a ?s switch that allows you to use it on any size .pst
file, and prevents any data from being cut from the end of the file?)
None of this has worked, and after having studied Microsoft knowledge
base etc. After contact with a Microsoft employee I think that pst
files made in Outlook 2003 simply cannot be read in earlier versions.
My attempt at I re-installing Outlook 2003, does not work because a
necessary update (Technical refresh) to the beta version is no longer
available. My options then are given up the mail from the beta period
or getting somebody with a a new version of Office 2003 to convert my
files..

I asked for advice, not blame. My computer has a 2nd harddrive just
for backup, but unfortunately the backup procedure just then did not
include the area where pst. files are kept.
