On December 31, 1915, Katerine (or Keterine) Voslowsky (or Woslowsky,
or Voslowski)surrendered an infant girl to the Sisters at The New York
Foundling Hospital in Manhattan. [The spelling on the documents
available are difficult to read, which is the reason for the various
alternatives]. The child was reportedly born on December 21, 1915 at
Bellevue Hospital. The Borough of Manhattan registry of births lists
(certificate # 64642)a female born on December 22, 1915 with the
surname of Waslasky. I wish to find out information about Katerine
Voslowsky. Are there any records indicating who she was, where she
lived, and what became of her?

The only information available about Katerine is what appears on the
surrender documents at the Foundling Hospital. More than likely she
was unwed and may have worked as a domestic or in a factory? There is
the possiblity that she did not use her correct name. [Would she lie
to the Sisters at such a time?] Are there any census records or
naturalization records for 1910 or 1920 for New York City that might
include Katerine? What about a City directory covering 1915? Are
there Polish-American agencies that could be helpful? Thanks for your
help and comments. I wish I had more information.

The correct name is very likely Katherine Waslowsky. There is a
living person with that name, could be a living descendant, or at
least a good lead for you to track. Her email address is not active,
but there are other leads on the following page which you can use to
find her. http://stanley.editthispage.com/discuss/msgReader$4?mode=day

Good luck

You should consider contacting the person that Google Answers
provided, just to see if she is related or not. This is such an
unusual Polish sounding name that it seems as if there could be many
variations of it.

It would help with your search if you were able to provide any
additional clues that would provide other avenues to
search/cross-check, such as Katherine's date of birth or estimated
age, Katherine's husband's name, the child's name, is Voslowsky a
maiden name or married name, etc.

SINCERELY,

According to a census database that I subscibe to, there are an
Abraham Woslowski (69), Ida Woslowsky (69), and a Martha Woslowski
(26) listed as living in Manhattan in the 1930 Census. I'm not sure
what this means but I thought I'd let you know about my research.

The alternate spellings you have offered have not resulted in any
meaningful hits. If you have any additional details I'll be happy to
try and help.
