I'm looking for a company that sels/manufactures glass that can be
used in a window or door.

The special feature I'm looking for is as follows. I beleive there are
two fieces of glass with a gas sealed between the two pieces. When a
switch or button is pressed, the space between the glass fogs up and
you cannot see throught the glass. When you press the button / switch
the glass instantly becomes clear again.

I'd like to incorporate this glass into my office door. When I want
privacy, I press the button/switch. When I want to see out of my
office I press the button/switch and the glass becomes clear.

There also may be a glass that appears to break/crackle and clear up
when the switch is pressed.

Any info would be appreciated.

I believe Priva-Lite glass would meet your needs. Take a look:

That is what I'm looking for. Can you find any USA manufacturers or
distributors? How about prices?
Also, a similar product that "cracks" and "uncracks" when the button is pushed.

I am not aware of a product that "cracks" and "uncracks." Perhaps
another Researcher will be able to assist you.

According to:

http://sweets.afgd.com/content/Planning/p10_1_7.PDF

Electrically-controlled privacy film glass is also available under
these additional tradenames from other manufacturers:

Polyvision by Polytronix (http://www.polytronix.com/privacyglass.htm )
Taliq Varilite (original inventor, company went out of business in '99)
Viracon Privacy Glass (Viracon's website doesn't seem to work any more)

I recall seeing a piece on TV about this product when it first hit the
market in the late '90's, and I also recall seeing the 'cracked glass'
demo. However, I believe that it was a one-off demo unit only, to
demonstrate possible artistic applications for the Taliq film concept.
