I need statistical information regarding monetary FOREIGN AID given by the United States. I need which countries recieve the foreign aid (all countries not just the top 10 or so forth), and how much they recieve in USD($). I need these statistics to be from a reliable source (as in not some persons homepage but an agency, organization, governmental department, etc). A link is sufficient as long as it contains all of this information. MUST BE STATISTICS FROM 1999-2003... 2000 ideal!!!! |

Dear tenebrousb, The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) offers extensive information on what countries receive what amounts of financial aid. Those figures are published annually in the USAID Congressional Presentation. In the 2002 Congressional Presentation, you will find among other data for every country: - Actual 1999 figures - Actual 2000 figures - Estimated 2001 figures - Requested funds for 2002 Below, I have listed the direct links to the presentation's sections relating to the various regions of the world. Following those links will take you to the lists of countries receiving foreign aid. Click on a country's name to access its particular report, where you will find a link to "Summary Tables > Program Summary". That link will take you to tables listing the amounts of monetary aid that country received. Africa http://www.usaid.gov/pubs/cbj2002/afr/ Asia and the Near East http://www.usaid.gov/pubs/cbj2002/ane/ Europe and Eurasia http://www.usaid.gov/pubs/cbj2002/ee/ Latin America and the Caribbean http://www.usaid.gov/pubs/cbj2002/lac/ In case you would like to also read USAID'S other annual Congressional Presentations, you will find those by following the below link to their budget information side, and then scrolling down a bit to the paragraph titled "Congressional Budget Justification". There is a menu that will give you access to the USAID presentations for the years 1997 to 2004: http://www.usaid.gov/policy/budget/ I hope that this is what you were looking for! 1) The FY 2004 Congressional Presentation contains the actual aid level for FY 2002, the _estimated_ level for FY 2003, and the _requested_ level for FY 2004. CPs for other years follow the same pattern. 2) The figures listed are for _economic_ assistance; we also provide military assistance. 3) The following is the accepted USG source for historical data: U.S. Overseas Loans and Grants, published by USAID. Assistance covers the Post War Relief Period (1946-48), the Marshall Plan Period (1949-52), the Mutual Security Act Period (1953-61), and the ongoing Foreign Assistance Act Period (1962-2000). For further explanation on the Report's coverage, see the Foreword. The report covers both economic and military assistance. The definitions are arcane, following the Development Assistance Committee definitions. If you need more information, please let me know. |
