OK, let's say the names are A B C D E F and G
If you know you have to pick A, the remaining two people would be one of
BC
BD
BE
BF
BG
CD
CE
CF
CG
DE
DF
DG
EF
EG
FG
which is '6C2' or (6 x 5) / 2 = 15
While all the ways to pick three people are
'7C3' or (7 x 6 x 5) / (3 x 2) = 35
So the answer is that Mr. A will be one of the three people 15/35 = .428571
of the time.
