Question ID: 305961
I gave my sister a 45rpm record of songs sang by a young French boy,
around the age of 10 or so. I purchased the record between 1962 and
1965 sometime in France. She has lost the record and would love to
have another, but cannot recall the name of the child who sang the
song about "The Little Prince". The photograph on the front of the
dust cover showed the little boy perhaps lying down with his head
between his hands. I would like to have the name of the boy, the
song, and a source for obtaining a copy.

Thank you for your comments, howerver I realize that "The Little
Prince" was written by Antoine de Saint-Exubery in the French
language, and translated into many languages. I have had numerous
copies of the story over the years. What I seek is NOT the story, but
a MUSICAL piece which was most likely inspired by the book and
recorded on a 45rpm record by a young boy acting as the little prince.

The little boy singer was Gerard Philippe. I found this site which
sells old LPs and there seems to be a couple of LPs there which fit
the description of what you're looking for. I believe he also
rebridged a version the little prince book later on in his life.

I also found the following site (translated by Google) which has all
his music - they may have it in CD by now.

This paragraph was translated by Google from a French site...

"In 1998, Gallimard launched CD-Rom with Sami Frey in the role of
l?aviator and Ludwig Loison-Robert in the role of the Small Prince.
C?était a large success: 18.000 specimens were sold. In addition to
the multiple discs (of which that of 1954 with the voice of Gerard
Philippe) and the book-cassettes, the prince reigns on the scenes of
theatre and will d?opéra."

Regarding the comment above, the French actor Gérard Philipe was born
in 1922, and was not a little boy in the 1950s when the recordings
described were made.
