Sue12501,

I have searched numerous sites, in many Spanish-speaking countries,
with no luck. After asking my daughter, and several friends of mine,
the concensus is, few Spanish-speaking people use crock pots. I have
never seen one being used in the countries in which I have lived and
traveled. In fact, no one I know, knows the correct term for a
crockpot! Most folks I asked, did not even know what it was!

Do you have a commonly used word for crockpot? I'd love to assist you,
and would if I could find the right search terms.
"Ollas electricas" "cocinera electrica" and "Ollas express" turned up "nada".
Actually "Olla express" was suggested by a Mexican friend of mine, but
turned out to be a pressure cooker!

Dear Crabcakes: I had the same problem. I tried to do a search and was
successful with "recetas" but could put in a word for "crockpot" that
yielded anything useful. I tried various "ollas" words as well but did
not find anything. I asked a few friends and they didn't know if there
was a word for crockpot in Spanish either. Maybe this is a futile
search. Maybe I will end up having to try to write something myself
with my inadequate Spanish. I gave a crockpot to a Spanish speaking
friend and it would be so nice if there were instructions and a few
starter recipes in Spanish. Most appliances come with multi-lingual
instructions but for some short-sighted reason Rival doesn't bother.

This manual provide instructions on:
- how to use a crockpot
- how to clean it
- how to adapt recipes for cooking in a crockpot.
- crockpot care
- Questions and answers

Google Answers is wonderful. I enjoyed using it my first time. The
answers were exactly what I wanted. I usually can find anything I want
on the internet myself but when I was completely stuck you guys
amazingly found the needle in the haystack. Thanks again.

Since "Crock-Pot" (with a hyphen) is a registered trademark, it
appears that in Spanish it is just called "la olla Crock-Pot." Here

I could not find any Spanish instructions for operating the device,
but it's so simple to use that I don't know how a person could go
wrong.

Sue, Try your public library for a cookbook. Our public libraries have
a variety of Spanish language cookbooks, and you may find something
there. MOst libraries have an online catalog you can search.
