You missed an iportant step, the removal of the ZoneProxy and
ZoneClient files. Microsoft has an official knowledge base article
giving the exact steps to follow. Follow them and you should be all
set:

241200 - Zone Error Message

I followed the stepsexactlyshown in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=241200 before i got
this suggestion and again after you posted this. it did not work. A
msn tech engineer went thru these steps on line with me and give up
saying not sure what the problem was

Your registry most likely was snarled by the use of that spybot
program you mentioned. You should go here:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Download and install the free edition of AdAware. Make sure you click
the button to fetch new updates. Then click the button for a full scan
for adware programs on your computer, and be sure to allow it to
remove them.

Next, repeat the recommendations in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article.
