Dear eofwindsor,

Without refering to the historical facts mentioned by the competent
and talented probonopublico, your question is a bit problematic: "Is
anyone interested to help me making the proof that my father's dad is
Edward VIII, the duke of Windsor (1894-1972)?"

The answer to this question is probably "yes". There are probably some
people who will be willing to take your money and "help you make the
proof" (and then perhaps tell you what probonopublico gave you pro
bono).

Could you please rephrase the question and state exactly what you're
expecting as an answer? (for example: names of people who specialise
in inspecting such claims; methods to "prove" or to check it; steps
you have to take; etc.).

Dear politicalguru,
Thank you for your interest, all I know at this time is that my father
was born under unknown father in Paris (1916)and that the ressemblance
between him, myself and the duke is evident. My father's second name
is Edward and a few years after his birth, my grand mother apparently
disposed of enough money to create what would become one of the famost
"maison de couture" in Paris between the two wars under the name of
Marcelle Dormoy. Knowing that a DNA test could not be considered with
any member of the royal family, I believe there could be any other
child of the duke beeing in the same research with whom I could
consider a DNA test comparaison.

If you are interested in acccepting this as an answer, I can tell you
how to contact the woman and family who claim to have biological ties
to Edward. I can also point out a number of very visually compelling
comparison photographs of her and her family members who do indeed
remarkably resemble various members of the Royal family.

Perhaps through your contact with them you might be able to arrange
some DNA tests, keeping in mind that THEIR lineage is not proven.
However, should your DNA match their DNA, this would serve as quite
convincing evidence that both they and you do, in all probablity, have
the same common ancestor somewhere down the line.

Would you like me to provide this information to you as an answer?

regards;

Adressed to tutuzdad and probonopublico,
My father was born on june 5th 1916 in Paris (5th arondissement)His
birth act does not mention his parents name. He was recognised by his
mother, Marie Léonie Graftieaux only a year and a half later on an act
which mentions "père inconnu". I already contacted Elizabeth Kelman
who believes she is Duke and Dutchess of Windsor's daughter but have
no reply yet. I can provide pictures of my father and myself to
confirm the strange ressemblance between us and the duke.Thank you for
beeing interested in that matter.
Regards
eofwindsor

How then do you suggest we proceed? In other words, what exactly are
you hoping one of us can do short of discovering some unknown document
that proves your suspicions?

Hello everybody,
From recent research, I found that HRH EdwardVIII was stationed in
Paris untill the end of 1915 where he acted as "aide de camp" to Sir
John French Commander of the BEC (British Expeditionnary Force)in
France. This information comes from the official biography of the Duke
of Windsor. I am currently in touch with Elizabeth Kelman from
Tennesse who strongly believes that we are related. We are considering
having DNA tests comparisons bur she seems to have had several threats
ever since she started to claim about her identity and is afraid of
what could happen to her and her relatives. I believe we will all need
a lot of help from nice pepople who believe that we are uncovering
dangerous secrets.
Anyway thanks to everybody for helping.
Regards

I very much doubt it!

Edward VIII suffered from mumps as a young adult and, reportedly, this
left him sterile. Although rare, this can happen if the testicles
become infected.

Edward had many lovers over the years but none of them ever produced
any child of his.

During the 30's there was a popular saying that he was not 'Heir Conditioned'.

Forget Wallis Simpson, she'd apparently had a hysterectomy which left
her sterile even before she met him.

I understand that the Duke served in Italy during WW1, although I am
sure that this would not have prevented him from going to Paris, had
he wished.

Please give the date that your father was born (if known).

There is no record of the Duke ever having sired any children, so I
don't see how you could get a DNA test.

However, there is a woman in American who claims (or used to claim)
that she was the love child of the Duke and Mrs S before they married.
(This seems highly unlikely.)

Hi, Again, Eofwindsor

I should explain that I am not a Researcher (merely a Commentator), so
I am unable to 'take your case', as interesting as it is.

However, you will be in very much better hands than mine if a GA
Researcher should elect to provide you with an answer.

For what it's worth, I think that there are three potentially
rewarding lines of enquiry:

1: Investigating the feasibility of the Duke having been in or around
Paris at the time of your father's perceived conception;

2: Investigating the possibility that the Duke had suffered from mumps
'as a young adult' and the date at which this may have occurred and
the possibility of it having affected his potency;

3: Advising on the significance of your photographic evidence.

Hope these ideas might be helpful because it would be VERY EXCITING if
you are who you think you are.

My only request is that, if ever you do move into Buckingham Palace,
please say those magic words ...

'Arise Sir Bryan'.

Good luck!

Bryan

PROBONOPUBLICO OFFERS YOU A LOGICAL LIST OF MODES OF ENQUIRY.

I WOULD LIKE TO ADD ANOTHER IDEA. THE RESEMBLANCES DESCRIBED (EVEN
WITHOUT PHOTOS) DO SEEM STRIKING. HOWEVER, A CHILD BORN TO THE FATHER
AND MOTHER OFTEN RESEMBLES MORE AN UNCLE, AUNT, ETC. RATHER THAN THE
PARENT HIMSELF!!
CONSIDER THE POSSIBILITY THAT YOU AND YOUR FATHER ARE THE PROGENY OF
ANOTHER MEMBER OF EDWARD'S FAMILY.

The plot thickens!

How's this for a scenario ...

Edward VII (the Duke's granddaddy) was a great womaniser and he spent
a lot of time in Paris.

He reputedly had a fling with the Devine Sarah Bernhardt and, for one
night only, he briefly appeared in a play with her, as a corpse.

Now, supposing, Ed7 had a love child in Paris ... and that love child
also had a love child who became your Dad?

It all fits together perfectly!

(Thanks to Californiagirl.)

Interesting!

So the Duke WAS in Paris at an appropriate date.

And, of course, he would only have been 20 or so at the time ...

It would also be useful to find out when he contacted the mumps that
is reputed to have ruined his manhood.
