Hello.

" If toast always lands butter-side down, and (cats) always land on their feet,
what happens if you strap toast on the back of a (cat) and drop it.
Steven Wright."

You have some errors in your transcription of the code. It should be:

LV ARFXA FWKFBX WEPOX SMAAGQ-XLOG ORKP, FPO ___ FWKBFX WFRO RP ACGLQ
VGGA, KCFA CFDDGPX LV BRM XAQFD ARFXA RP ACG SFZJ RV F ____ FPO OQRD
LA? - XAGEGP KQLTCA

LV     = IF
ARFXA  = TOAST
FWKFBX = ALWAYS
WEPOX  = LANDS
SMAAGQ-XLOG = BUTTER-SIDE
ORKP = DOWN
FPO = AND

missing word = CATS

FWKBX = ALWAYS
WFRO = LAND
RP = ON
ACGLQ = THEIR
VGGA = FEET
KCFA = WHAT
CFDDGPX = HAPPENS
LV = IF
BRM = YOU
XAQFD = STRAP
ARFXA = TOAST
RP = ON
ACG = THE
SFZJ = BACK
RV = OF
F = A

missing word = CAT

FPO = AND
OQRD = DROP
LA? = IT?
-
XAGEGP = STEVEN
KQLTCA = WRIGHT

------

strategy:
pencil and paper letter substitution

I hope this helps.

The 4th word should actually be WFPOX in the code rather than WEPOX.

Also, you have the word 'WFRO' in your code. It should be WFPO.

As I said, there are some minor errors in your transcription of the
code, but the solution is:

"If toast always lands butter-side down, and (cats) always land on their feet,
what happens if you strap toast on the back of a (cat) and drop it? -
Steven Wright."
