My husband occasionally uses Dragon Naturally Speaking, the home
version, with very good results. (He?s an even worse typist than am
I!). I had serious doubts, but after a little practice, Dragon even
coped with his Oklahoma accent! (No offense to my friend and fellow
researcher, pinkfreud!)

Well, yesmam, I hope this helps Dr. Dad locate some training! Please
assure your dad that I could not accept his golden scalpel, and that
I am happy to be able to help! I?ve worked in the medical field over
25 years myself, and know how dear those things can be! When I was
young, my dad brought home a glass urinal - the hospital in which he
worked decided to go to stainless steel. I still have that glass
urinal, full of potpourri, in my bathroom!
