Question ID: 307021
I am looking for a children's story that was contained in a Sesame
Street anthology approximately 25 years ago. The most memorable line
from the story is "Fireman, fireman, what a man, what a man." Any
suggestions about how I can locate a copy of the anthology or a copy
of the story?

Although there are many Sesame Street books, relatively few could be
described as "anthologies." And relatively few of those anthologies
were published before 1980.

Here are three possibilities listed in the Library of Congress catalog:

"The Sesame Street Storybook" (1971)

"The Sesame Street Bedtime Storybook" (1978)
http://catalog.loc.gov/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?v3=1&DB=local&CMD=010a+77093774&CNT=10+records+per+page

"The Sesame Street Library" (1978)

Do any of these sound familiar?

My son was born in 1972. It was his favorite story when he was 3, so I
am going to guess that the 1978 date is too late. I used the term
anthology loosely--the book was simply a collection of SS stories. I
think you are definitely on the right track.

Okay, I think there's a strong possibility that the Sesame Street
Storybook (1971) could be your book. A 1975 edition of the book was
published as well.

Thus, the time frame of when this book was in print is right, as your
son would have been around 3 in 1975.

Basically, the only way to verify that the "fireman, fireman..." line
is in the book is to take a look at it or have a dealer who has the
book take a look at it for you.

Would you consider a list of dealers that have the book to be an
adequate answer to this question?

No, but if you could get a dealer to verify that the story was in the
book, then I would consider that an answer. Thank you for your
diligence.
