In the Movie "War Games" the computer was named WOPR which stands for
'War Operations Planned Response' and it was a pun on the real NORAD
computer BURGR.

What does BURGR stand for?

Irish--

I'm not convinced BURGR is truly the name of a defense department
computer. Do you know for a fact that it is, or just from surfing
sites regarding the Movie "War Games"?

The main reason I'm suspicious is because I've searched Acronym
databases... probably close to a dozen of them, with no mention of
BURGR. And some of these databases are specific to the computer
industry.

If you don't mind clarifying that you're certain it's truly the name
of a computer, that would help me out.

I searched for a good while on the net - and never came up with any
answers, only the usual stuff reqarding "War Games", nothing on
NORAD's real computer BURGR (is it real? I don't know).

I was hoping you had a contact in the military ;)

I looked in NORAD history and found nothing also...

My verry own uneducated guess is that it stands for:  Bastard
Un-identified Rocket Gauss-powered Radar system.  :P   What might you
think?
