Hi grthumongous!

George Gordon Battle Liddy

and

Irving Lewis Libby

Libby's Irving can be shortened to Irv, and he has a nickname of "Scooter".

"George Gordon Battle Liddy (born November 30, 1929) was the chief
operative for President Richard Nixon's White House Plumbers unit that
broke into the Watergate complex in 1972 and led to Nixon's
resignation in 1974."

"George Gordon Battle Liddy, named after a New York political leader,
was born on November 30, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York."

"The G [...] stands for "George.""

chief of staff and chief national security deputy."

"Vice-President?s Chief of Staff and National Security Advisor: Irv Lewis Libby.
Libby, usually called Scooter, is one of the most influential and

There are plenty of instances of Gordon Liddy's "George" once you know
what you're looking for, but the "Irving" is not well documented on
the web.
I also looked at the New York Times and the Washington Post and didn't
find his full name used there at all.

It was a pleasure to answer one of your questions again, grthumongous.
Please just ask if you want any clarification.

Best Wishes - Leli

thanks leli.
I have never heard of a middle name like Battle but it seems appropriate.

About that 'Battle':

"George Gordon Battle Liddy, named after a New York political leader,
was born on November 30, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York."

Ironically, George Gordon Battle was a Democrat:

"New York Delegation to the 1928 Democratic National Convention...
12th District: Edward J. Ahearn, New York - George Gordon Battle, New York"
