Hellow Narrative~

Thank you for the interesting question! I've found several sites that
I think will give you some great stories "in their own words."

You might start at The Doughboy Center, which showcases letters and
diaries of WWI soldiers: http://www.worldwar1.com/dbc/biograph.htm

Be sure to also visit the WWI Memoirs & Remembrances website:
http://www.lib.byu.edu/~rdh/wwi/memoir.html

Also interesting is the online diary of George Ludovic Alexander:
http://www.webmousepublications.com/itow/gla/gla-home.html

See also the James Rogers McConnell?s letters:
http://www.lib.virginia.edu/speccol/exhibits/mcconnell/intro.html

For a look at the Australian experience, see The Australian War Diary:
http://www.minerva.com.au/austwardiary/mainindex.htm

Letters Home From The War showcases letters by American Lloyd Maywood
Staley: http://www.u.arizona.edu/~rstaley/wwlettr1.htm

Weldon M. Barr?s notebook is also online: http://www.bright.net/~hhelser/dad's.html

To read some Canadian letters from WWI, see The Canadian Letters &
Images Project: http://web.mala.bc.ca/davies/letters.images/collections.index.htm

Another good online dairy is that of Edward Borgonon:
http://www.borgognon.net/VEBdiary.html

For a British point of view, see the diary of John William Gower:
http://www.gowerhome.freeserve.co.uk//Preview/index.html

as well as Travis Hampson: http://web.ukonline.co.uk/xenophon/contents.htm

For even more personal experiences, do be sure to check out the
Western Front website links for ?personal participants:?

Enjoy!
