I know that Windows XP stores its activation information in a file called "wpa.dbl". If this file is backed up, the OS can be reinstalled without reactivation by restoring that file (provided the hardware has not changed too drastically). I have reason to believe that MS Office 2003 uses a similar activation file (this is implied by a feature of a software product called "OutSource-XP"). My question is, where is this file kept? |

gw-ga, From [ http://www.dogcomputerclub.homestead.com/Menu_NEW_STUFF_WPA1.html ]: "This is how legitimate users of Windows XP can avoid reactivation with Microsoft after a full install on the same computer. Copy and re-use the c:\windows\system32\wpa.dbl file. It is a small file that will easily fit on a floppy. Or, copy it to safe location on your hard drive. " Google search strategy: Keywords, ""wpa.dbl" location" Hope this helps, omniscientbeing-ga |

I guess I could've been more clear when I posted the question. I know where the Windows XP activation file is. What I want to know is where the MS Office 2003 activation file is. |
