Question ID: 307860
I'm looking for some information on a particular managed services
software company and its respective industry in general. First, the
company can be found at www.beeline.com. I need some general
information on the industry, what the competitors are, etc. Current
literature (websites, periodicals, whatever) discussing the industry
would be helpful. Also, is this industry in its infancy, a growth
period, or decline? Moreover, how does Beeline rank against its
peers. Thank you.

COMPETITION

Beeline is relatively unique in the human capital automation industry,
in that there are few true ASPs in this market. The majority of
clients considering formalizing their HR business processes typically
approach one of the big consulting companies for assistance. These
include Accenture and Deloitte as well as specialized HR outsourcing
firms like Convergys and Exult

On the software side of things, Beeline's biggest competitors are the
large enterprise software firms including SAP, Peoplesoft, Oracle, and
SAS. The closest ASP competitors to Beeline include several smaller
companies:

---

Peopleclick
http://www.peopleclick.com/

"Peopleclick's Recruitment Management solution is a comprehensive
hosted web-service solution that manages the acquisition of regular
employee staffing in an efficient, cost-effective, and process-driven
way. Peopleclick RMS provides regular employee recruitment process
management, from candidate identification and pre-screening to
qualification and selection. Tied to powerful reporting and analytics
tools, RMS allows for complete control over regular employee headcount
while ensuring high-caliber talent acquisition and improved workforce
acquisition decisions."

Neither of these ASPs offer the complete breadth of human capital
management capability that Beeline's suite of solutions offers.

Additionally, partnerships and companies that collectively offer
competitive alternatives to Beeline's services include:

TREND

The human capital automation industry is growing as a result of the
general trend of business process outsourcing (BPO). Companies are
choosing to hire specialist firms to take care of their non-core
business processes in order to reduce overhead. For many companies,
the HR function exists primarily to hire, nurture, and eventually part
ways with employees. As companies become more global in nature, the
necessary infrastructure to implement and support HR across the firm
becomes large. By sharing the infrastructure of a specialized HR firm,
companies can save money overall while benefitting from uniformly
applied, best-in-class policies and processes. This has been
especially true in the volatile IT industry in North America over the
last few years.

Gartner Group Research:

"Revenue from ERP software fell 1.6 percent in 2002, as the only
sector to grow was human capital management. SAP kept its huge lead
and was trailed by Sage, Microsoft, Oracle and PeopleSoft."

------------------------------------------------
RANK

Ranking Beeline is very difficult given the relative uniqueness of its
ASP solutions, and the strength of MPS backing it up. Choosing between
Beeline and some of the options available from the ERP software
vendors will usually come down to multiple factors including a
company's size, their past experience with their ERP system, the
partners engaged by the company to advise on HR process outsourcing,
and the available funds. Beeline's services are ideally suited for
companies with cyclical hiring needs, as their ability to manage and
report on both contingent and 'permanent' hiring is unique.
